Welcome to the latest edition of the Elim Counseling Center newsletter! We are thrilled to share our recent achievements and upcoming plans with you. Elim Counseling Center is thriving and remains dedicated to serving our community with compassion and commitment. We continue to support our community through various initiatives, including support groups, book clubs, and mental health seminars. Exciting new programs are on the horizon, and we encourage you to stay tuned and help us spread the word so that those in need can receive the help they deserve.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Annual Gathering:

  • Save the date for our Annual Gathering on Oct 19th, to celebrate and support our mission!



Self-Care Workshop for Resilient Women:

  • Join us for a 4 part in person series starting Octover 12th.

  • This workshop is designed to help women nurture their inner strength and well-being. In a supportive, small group setting, you’ll engage in creative self-care practices led by Sook Kyoung Kwong, a skilled Expressive Arts Therapist

Couple’s Workshop:

  • This fall, join us for our virtual Couples Group Workshop, led by bilingual and bicultural certified PREPARE/ENRICH counselors, Yisook Baik and Jeannie Moon.

  • This workshop is open to couples who are dating, engaged, or married, providing valuable tools to strengthen your relationship and communication.


NEWS & UPDATES

  • We are delighted to welcome Hana Shin, a student from UCSD, to our volunteer team. She is committed to bridging the gap and advocating for mental health among the younger generations with vibrancy.

  • North California Lifeline Training Sessions: Yisook Baik and Sook Kyoung Kwon delivered powerful lectures during the North California Lifeline Training sessions(June, 2024) and their contributions have significantly impacted the Korean Immigrant community by strengthening our support system and building a robust network of care.

  • Mental Health Seminar: On June 2, 2024, Yisook Baik gave a seminar titled “the Power of Words, the Power of Communication” at Hope Church in San Diego, focusing on parents with young adults.

  • Divorce Care Single Mom Support Group: Ongoing support group meetings that provide crucial support and resources for single moms navigating the challenges of parenting alone, both online and offline.

  • Elim Online Book Club: Successfully completed its 4th term in June and is now going into its 5th term. Members expressed gratitude to Yisook and Hwayoung for excellent book choices and for leading the discussion with comfort and encouragement.
