Janet is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and loves her work with people at Elim CCFC. She works with individuals, couples and family, and can very much empathize with emotions and the struggle of life's challenges, as she herself questioned and struggled with things that are thrown at us. Janet sees family and marriage as one of the most beautiful gift and life tasks at hand, and there’s so many resources and opportunities in therapy to live in peace and live well! Janet welcomes clients to lean in, ask questions and seek changes together for the fruits of good labor and love into self and relationships.
Janet studied Marriage and Family and Therapy at Fuller Seminary and jumped into the field a bit later after kids have grown. This may have been a blessing as there’s plenty of experience to understand having the challenges of life, family and marriage. Janet is
a certified Parent Educator for Positive Discipline (www.positivediscipline.org), an excellent program to equip parents, and also a Facilitator for PREPARE and ENRICH, a complete diagnostic approach to evaluating marriage and working on relationships. Janet also has a rich experience of Korean-American Immigrants and grief through the Korean Community Services and The Elizabeth Hospice. Therapist also has a heart for families of Mental Health Illness and also leads an online Single Mom’s group with the curriculum of DivorceCare.
Janet is grateful for being married to a husband and three children. Therapist is fully Bi-lingual in both Korean and English, as she immigrated to the US at age 11. It helps her to celebrate the diversity and also embrace the clash of two cultures in one family and even in one individual at times. Janet enjoys hiking and exploring the beautiful nature of National Parks, as well as making and trying new dishes at home.
